johngwilliamsfinefurniture is an innovative design company based in Johannesburg South Africa.
We design and produce fine furniture with an artisanal ethos. Each piece is individually crafted and finished with great care.
The design sensibility draws on modern danish design - we find that wherever we simplify a design we end up with more striking and beautiful forms.
We use the most beautiful hardwood timbers, and treat these natural resources with respect.
Our first ambition is to build beautiful comfortable furniture, despite the fact that this sometimes presents an extreme challenge in its construction.

The ambition is to make beautiful furniture that is incredibly comfortable, and that stands the test of time both in terms of its construction quality, and due to an enduring strong aesthetic.
This enduring quality pushes back against ever shortening product life cycles. And validates the use of beautiful solid hardwood timber.
If we can enhance our environment with truly enduring design we are making an important contribution towards sustainability.

John has lived in Johannesburg for over 20 years, and is a mechanical and manufacturing engineer by training.
His Father was Head of Craft at a secondary school in the UK and the design gene lives on.
John tends to generate design ideas, and then work back from those ideas to figure out how they might be realized most reliably.
John has won several international design prizes for his work
